Day Seven: Carry out a 

random act of kindness

Few things make us feel as good as doing something for someone else and it's so important to help others, especially right now. If you're stuck in the house and wondering how you're going to make a grand gesture from your room, don’t worry, even the smallest things count as an act of kindness. Make your housemate a cup of tea, cook dinner for your family, send a text to a friend to let them know you're thinking of them or call your Granny to see if she needs any groceries picking up.  


All these things let the people around you know that you care. Remember you can still spread positivity from a distance, nod at the people walking 2 metres away from you in the park or put something nice in your window to make passersby smile. In times like these the world pulls together, isolation doesn’t mean you’re alone.  


Research shows that helping others can be beneficial to our own mental health. It can reduce stress, improve our emotional wellbeing and even benefit our physical health. Try using the Mental Health Foundation's random acts of kindness generator every day and see if you can complete them all or make up your own.
