About the Event
Ibtisam Ahmed (he/him) is the Head of Policy and Research at the LGBT Foundation. A queer disabled migrant of colour from Bangladesh, he completed his studies in decolonisation and utopianism, and is keen to uplift experiences of queer joy and empowerment in his professional and personal life. His job is to ensure that queer rights are seen as a multifaceted, nuanced, and fully lived experience.
In this talk, Ibtisam will look at the university as an exciting and formative space for exploring LGBTQ+ identities. Reflecting on his own time at a British university and the stories of other community members, he will share some of the experiences that students might face (including ways to challenge difficult ones), as well as focusing on the immensely positive potential for growth and self-discovery.
