LAU Societies
University is the perfect time to try something different and make new friends, and societies are the perfect place to do that! All Leeds Arts University societies are run by students, for students and offer a wide range of activities to try. Even though, at the start of this year, you may have less face time with your new friends, it doesn’t mean you can’t get together at all! Joining a society is your chance to get to know other students, start new friendships, and maybe, try something new.

African Caribbean Society
A coming together of people who identify as African and Caribbean, celebrating diversity in Leeds and our University. ACS is a fun, creative and vibrant society.
We aim to create a comfortable and chilled environment for students to explore and celebrate black culture, though you don’t need to be of African or Caribbean decent to join. We aim to create a platform for like-minded individuals to socialise, make friends and enjoy cultural events.

Christian Union
Leeds Arts University Christian Union meet regularly to explore who Jesus is and and why we choose to follow and praise Him. We host free events where anybody is welcome to come along. We aim to challenge preconceptions of Christianity and discuss big questions about life and faith.

Chess Society
Come together to meet new people and play chess in a fun and relaxed environment. A society welcoming people of all levels, whether they want to come and learn the game for the first time or play at a higher level. Your Society Leaders will introduce any members that are new to the rules of the game and discuss common techniques that you can use when playing.

Conscious Creatives
We aim to educate, promote and celebrate sustainable and social responsibility throughout the University. We hope to achieve this by bringing students together through workshops and eco-responsive activities, vegan lunches and creative, collaborative projects.
Alongside these fun activities is an opportunity to work with the Sustainability Officer to provide feedback and develop ideas for creative campaigns and events in the Union.

Drawing Essentials Society
The objectives and aims of the Drawing Essentials Society is to provide allocated time for people to develop their practical drawing skills in a supportive and competitive environment. The society aims to practice fundamental skills such as anatomy, perspective, environmental sketches, colour theory and shape theory.

K-Pop Society
Are you a lover of all things Korean? Then this is the place to be! The K-Pop Society is all about meeting like-minded fans of K-Pop and K-Drama, it’s a great way to meet a new concert buddy! We host quizzes, themed crafts, language study sessions and enjoy all things K-Pop.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a complete newbie or well versed in the Hallyu Wave, we want to show people that K-Pop and drama can be for anyone and enjoyed by all.

One of the Union's longest running and most popular societies, the Life Drawing Society is not only a fantastic way to practise those ever-important drawing skills, but it’s also a great place to meet new students from across the University.

Come along to discuss Doctor Who and the wider Whoniverse with other Doctor Who fans. Open to all, whether you’re new to the show or an avid watcher.
