LAU Communities
Here at Leeds Arts Union we want to give you opportunities to meet new people at the University outside of your course areas. Unlike our LAU Societies, our LAU Communities are not run by a student leader but instead work as drop-in style events in an open space. Learn more about our current LAU Communities and how to get involved below! Check out the What's On page to stay up to date with when these events happen!

Hello Cafe
Making that first step into your course at Leeds Arts University is an exciting time, but you may have lots of questions. You may also be in your second or third year and wanting to meet some new people. Whatever your circumstances, welcome to Hello Cafe!
When and where do we meet? Every week in the first term in the Union space. Check out the What's On page to stay up to date with our next get-together! Come and join us for some free refreshments and creative activities while you meet new people, find out about what’s going on at the uni, ask any questions and settle into uni life.
Through attending Hello cafe you’ll have the opportunity to:
-
Create your own creative social network;
-
Meet with new or returning LAU students from your course or beyond, both from the UK and internationally
-
Meet people who can help signpost you to relevant support, advice and guidance when you need it.
My/Your/Our Space
My/Your/Our Space started in 2023 as a creative and social space for students who identify as a person of colour or coming from a minoritised ethnicity and looking to connect.
Come join our united community for free refreshments and shape the space to work for you. Here you can: present your work and get feedback, engage in creative activities, such as creating videos and zines, have varied discussions, host film screenings, open mic nights, games, invite academics in for culture/industry-based talks and so much more.
Beyond this safe space, there is also an opportunity to host events that can be open to the wider university, for example celebrating cultural festivals and important dates.

Neurodivergent
Social Club
The Neurodivergent Social Club is a project started in 2024 in collaboration with the Students' Union and Academic Support Team in order to provide a social space for any neurodivergent student to come along to.
No diagnosis is required and there will be snacks, hot beverages, games and activities available. Please feel free to bring your own lunch to eat.
The Neurodivergent Social Club runs every week. This is usually held in B2.G.03/04 or the SU Space.
