About the Event

Gua Sha is a form of traditional Chinese healing, Elaine of @elainegracetherapies will guide you through this unique way of both looking after and loving the skin you're in. Gua Sha is an ancient technique that utilises a smooth straight-edged tool (you can use your own or the back of a spoon will do perfectly!) and oil to scrape the skin and sculpt the face. Gua refers to the redness in your skin created by the rubbing action to stimulate blood circulation and Sha refers to the scraping technique used to sculpt the face.

Although Gua Sha has been brought to the attention of the wider public through recent wellness and beauty trends it has been around for hundreds if not thousands of years. It is based on principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine similar to acupuncture and combined with facial reflexology to help move 'Chi' or life force energy around the body.

Gua Sha also has many physical benefits; it helps to improve blood flow and circulation, aids lymph node drainage and relieves stress. Elaine is a wonderful group leader whose philosophy is to love the skin you're in, who better to lead a Love Yourself Fortnight workshop? She'll also be able to answer any questions about Gua Sha and explain it's benefits in more depth.

Don't forget to take some photos of your face head-on and side profile before the workshop to compare the results at the end! Please be mindful of using skin products that you have tested before and you know well with your skin.

LAU students only. Limited spaces available.
