About the Event

Kirkstall Valley Nature Reserve (KVNVR) is a hidden green gem in the heart of Leeds, with a community orchard, meadows aplenty and a nature trail there’s not much more you could want! However, not everyone loves and respects our local green spaces the way we do and it’s time for that to change. We thought the perfect place to start would be through restoring KVNR’s Sensory Garden which is made up of 3 raised beds amongst all the greenery to stimulate all 5 of your senses.

This first session will consist of a general area tidy up, litter picking and weed pulling to ready the area for a new planting session towards the end of the month.

It’s the perfect opportunity to get out into the fresh air, get your green thumb groove on and meet other like-minded students!

We will meet at the entrance to the Nature Reserve on Redcoate Lane (53°48'20.7"N 1°35'38.4"W) just before the railway bridge at 10 am and then make our way to the Sensory Garden together.

You’ll be required to wear weather-appropriate clothing, trousers, and long sleeves to partake in activities safely. You will need suitable shoes with ankle support such as walking boots or wellies that have sturdy soles (e.g. not trainers such as vans or converse). If you do not have suitable shoes, we will have to turn you away. We know this seems quite intense but we don’t want anyone to hurt themselves during the activities.
