M.E.R.P Society: DIY Patchmaking

MERP Society (Metal, Emo, Rock & Punk Society) is LAU's community of those who stand against capitalism's attitude of hyper-individualism and indifference, and those who want to meet like-minded people interested in alt fashion and music. If you consider yourself a part of (or adjacent to) the alternative community, we want to meet you!

Our DIY patchmaking meet-up will have sheets of fabric available for you to cut and create your very own DIY fabric patch, while you can chill to the music and chat to those around you. We will also have fabric paints and metal accessories for you to decorate your patch, along with thread for you to attach your patch to your shirt, trousers, bag, or whatever you please. The world already has more than enough clothes, so if you have an old shirt that you never really wear anymore or a neglected item from the charity shop, you are more than welcome (and encouraged!) to bring it along as your patch fabric; you'll leave with something completely unique AND sustainable! Don't worry if you haven't DIYed a patch or worked with fabrics before, just ask and we will be more than happy to help you!

This event works on a first come, first served basis.
