LAU Societies
University is the perfect time to try something different and make new friends, and societies are the perfect place to do that! All Leeds Arts University societies are run by students, for students and offer a wide range of activities to try. Even though, at the start of this year, you may have less face time with your new friends, it doesn’t mean you can’t get together at all! Joining a society is your chance to get to know other students, start new friendships, and maybe, try something new.

African Caribbean Society
A coming together of people who identify as African and Caribbean, celebrating diversity in Leeds and our University. ACS is a fun, creative and vibrant society.
We aim to create a comfortable and chilled environment for students to explore and celebrate black culture, though you don’t need to be of African or Caribbean decent to join. We aim to create a platform for like-minded individuals to socialise, make friends and enjoy cultural events.

Anime Society
Here in the Anime Society we bring together fellow anime lovers and discuss all things Anime! We get together to draw create and discuss our favourite Anime shows/characters and host anime themed quizzes. If you're passionate about Anime or an Anime amateur, come along and give it a try!

Blend DJ Society
Blend DJ Society is here to create an inclusive, beginner-friendly space for anyone interesting in DJing. We focus on supporting, teaching, and weekly socialising with other music communities across LAU. We believe that having a welcoming space to learn and develop your skills can help you step out of your comfort zone and open doors to exciting opportunities within the DJ scene.
We welcome DJs of all levels, whether you’re touching decks for the first time, wanting to learn new tips, or hoping to meet more creatives in Leeds. We encourage collaboration, confidence building, and experimentation in an inviting environment.

Christian Union
Leeds Arts University Christian Union meet regularly to explore who Jesus is and and why we choose to follow and praise Him. We host free events where anybody is welcome to come along. We aim to challenge preconceptions of Christianity and discuss big questions about life and faith.

Communist Society
Are you sick of the system and want to fight for a better world? You are not powerless! Get organised and join the communists on your campus! Our society is open to anyone who wants to get involved in the fight for a socialist future, who's curious about communism, or anyone who considers themselves a communist! We believe in the need to fight for a society free of poverty, war, prejudice and inequality - and we believe the root of these things is the capitalist system itself.
We hold reading groups and meetings on Marxist theory and other political topics, attend local protests, hold socials, and connect with other people searching for a real revolutionary way forwards.

Cosplay Society
Cosplay is a play on the words costume and play. It’s a beloved part of nerd-culture where people embrace their passions and inhabit their favourite fictitious characters!

Creative Queers is Leeds Arts University's LGBTQIA+ society.

Lights, camera, action! LAU’s Film Society is here to connect students from all over the university through their love of good movies! The Green Society is an environmentally conscious and social justice motivated collective that aims to use our unique creativity to bring about positive change and build community in Leeds. Are you a lover of all things Korean? Then this is the place to be! The K-Pop Society is all about meeting like-minded fans of K-Pop and K-Drama, it’s a great way to meet a new concert buddy! We host quizzes, themed crafts, language study sessions and enjoy all things K-Pop.

One of the Union's longest running and most popular societies, the Life Drawing Society is not only a fantastic way to practise those ever-important drawing skills, but it’s also a great place to meet new students from across the University.

M.E.R.P Society
M.E.R.P society aims to be a community for LAU students who are interested in alternative culture/music/lifestyle, providing a space for those sharing these interests to meet, form friendships, and partake in relevant activities together. LAU Paints & Paws is your society for all things anthropomorphic animals! While we lean more furry, the Paints & Paws Society welcomes anthro-enthusiasts of all kinds, be that Warrior Cats, Pokémon, Sonic or any other anthro-media!
