LAU Societies

University is the perfect time to try something different and make new friends, and societies are the perfect place to do that! All Leeds Arts University societies are run by students, for students and offer a wide range of activities to try. Even though, at the start of this year, you may have less face time with your new friends, it doesn’t mean you can’t get together at all! Joining a society is your chance to get to know other students, start new friendships, and maybe, try something new.

African Caribbean Society

A coming together of people who identify as African and Caribbean, celebrating diversity in Leeds and our University. ACS is a fun, creative and vibrant society.

We aim to create a comfortable and chilled environment for students to explore and celebrate black culture, though you don’t need to be of African or Caribbean decent to join. We aim to create a platform for like-minded individuals to socialise, make friends and enjoy cultural events.

Free to attend and open to all!

Christian Union

Leeds Arts University Christian Union meet regularly to explore who Jesus is and and why we choose to follow and praise Him. We host free events where anybody is welcome to come along. We aim to challenge preconceptions of Christianity and discuss big questions about life and faith.

Leeds Arts University Christian Union is here for you, whether you are a Christian or interested in the Christian faith. As a Christian Union we want to share with other students across Leeds Arts University about who God is and what He means to us. We are a community for people of different backgrounds to come together with the vision to help, support and love all students at our University and engage in the truths written in the Bible, whilst growing in our own faith.

Conscious Creatives

We aim to educate, promote and celebrate sustainable and social responsibility throughout the University. We hope to achieve this by bringing students together through workshops and eco-responsive activities, vegan lunches and creative, collaborative projects.

Alongside these fun activities is an opportunity to work with the Sustainability Officer to provide feedback and develop ideas for creative campaigns and events in the Union.

Creative Queers

Creative Queers is Leeds Arts University's LGBTQIA+ society.

We aim to create a platform for students to showcase their work and socialise together in safe spaces, discuss issues around the LGBTQIA+ community and celebrate ourselves.

We are a society that is active within issues around LGBTQIA+ equality and want to bring our students together to make friends and collaborate creatively.

We are Creative Queers and we have something to say!

Dragon Society

Got a thirst for adventure and a love of the fantastical?

LAU Dragon Society is the place for you! We're a group of like-minded imagineers who love to get together and play the fantasy tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons.

Together we'll tell a story, guiding our heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more. If this sounds up your street then come along to our meets!

Drama Society

What do you get if you combine the charm of Leo DiCaprio, the humour of Jennifer Lawrence, the undeniable cool of Samuel L Jackson and more bathroom Baftas than Meryl Streep? It's LAU's very own Drama Society of course!

If you're an amateur actor or actress this is the society for you! This is the place for you to flex those acting chops and set your sights on the stage this year.
