NUS Green Impact Award

We're delighted to share that we have been successfully awarded 'Good' accreditation in the NUS Green Impact Award scheme!

In January 2020, the Union signed up to the Green Impact accreditation scheme. In a relatively short space of time, the Union was successful in achieving the award ‘Good’ accreditation. This was awarded in August 2020. Our auditors gave the following comments:

“Leeds Arts Union have achieved a lot in a short space of time. Their set-up as a small and specialist union presents challenges that they overcome in creative ways, especially through their collaboration with the university's sustainability committee, and other sustainability groups within the city of Leeds. It is especially good to hear how their plans going forward seem to be focused around research and student opinion to ensure their sustainability work remains relevant and impactful.”

The Union has signed up to the Green Impact for 2020 - 21 in the hopes of achieving 'Very Good' accreditation. A huge thank you to Mai Brightling, Kaya Mitchell and to all the students who have helped us to achieve this!

"Green Impact is a United Nations award-winning programme designed to support environmentally and socially sustainable practice within organisations.

This year Green Impact has engaged students and staff in sustainability through campaigns such as the Climate Emergency, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and waste reduction across campuses. SUs have also shown how they quickly responded to the changes in working and living due to COVID-19, continuing to engage and support students and the local community through sustainability initiatives."
