NUS Green Impact Award 21-22

We're delighted to share that we have been successfully awarded 'Excellent' accreditation in the NUS Green Impact Award scheme for the second year in a row! In October 2021, the Union signed up for the Green Impact accreditation scheme for a third year, hoping to continue our previous rank of 'Excellent' that we were awarded for our 20-21 submission. Despite a difficult year in the team with new members of staff finding their feet and existing ones taking up brand new roles we still kept sustainability at the heart of all we do (alongside the student voice of course!) We're hugely proud to announce that we managed to exceed our own expectations and reached the accreditation 'Excellent' yet again.

We hope to maintain this standard this year and have once again signed up to see if we can push ourselves to be even more eco-responsible at LAU. A huge thank you to Guy Parsons and Jodie Allen the Leaders of our Conscious Creatives Society and to all the students who have helped us to achieve this!

"Green Impact is a United Nations award-winning programme designed to support environmentally and socially sustainable practice within organisations. This year Green Impact has engaged students and staff in sustainability through campaigns such as the Climate Emergency, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and waste reduction across campuses. SUs have also shown how they quickly responded to the changes in working and living, continuing to engage and support students and the local community through sustainability initiatives."
