The essentials checklist!

With less than a month to Fresher’s Week, it’ll soon be time to move out! It can be a stressful and overwhelming time, you might find yourself in a sudden panic, running around doing last-minute shopping for those little essentials to make your new digs feel like home.

With that in mind, we’ve put together an essentials checklist to give you a helping hand Remember: if you’re going to be living in student accommodation, it might be a good idea to find the Facebook group for your building if they have one. That way you can see who you might be living with and potentially chat and get to know each other beforehand. Not all accommodations provide kitchen items like kettles and toasters, but some do, so you might want to wait until after you have moved in and discussed what you need with your new housemates before you end up with five kettles in your shared kitchen! There are, of course, a lot more things you can bring with you, like washing up liquid and kitchen roll, but the same rule applies, and you can always get them at your local supermarket!

Essentials to bring:

Important Documents

- University Documents

- ID (Passport and Driving Licence)

- National Insurance Number / NHS Number

- Student Finance Documents

Kitchen

- Frying / saucepan

- Mugs / glasses

- Plates / bowls

- Can opener

- Tea towels

- Cutlery (your forks will eventually vanish)

- Cooking utensils (wooden spoon etc)

- Chopping board

- Oven tray

- Bottle opener

A great way to bond with your new flatmates is to take a group trip to IKEA for any other necessary items, especially if one of you has a car!
