Being part of the Union is about having a voice and being heard in a way that could be invaluable in your future and the future of others! The students chosen to represent you will play an important role in making a difference to your time at LAU so make sure you have your say and nominate yourself or speak to others and encourage them to apply!
COMMUNITIES OFFICER

The new Communities Officer role is all about bringing people together to make a real difference. This goes beyond the traditional fundraising priorities of Raise & Give - it’s about working on projects that focus on community action from within the Students’ Union and turning good intentions into regular, impactful work.

As Communities Officer, you’ll work closely with the Student Liaison Team, local Leeds organisations and national charities to create volunteering opportunities and purpose-driven campaigns. You’ll help students connect with causes that have meaning for them, encouraging your peers to give their time and energy to supporting others.

From community clean-ups and food bank collections to charity partnerships, awareness campaigns and volunteering days, you’ll plan a vibrant calendar of activities that make helping others a natural part of student life. You’ll play a key role in embedding social responsibility into union business - making it easy and rewarding for students to get involved regularly.
This role is perfect for someone who loves organising, collaborating and inspiring others. Along the way, you’ll develop leadership, project management, and teamwork skills that look brilliant on your CV, all the while helping to build stronger connections between LAU students and the Leeds community. See section 13 in the Code of Practice for further details on the responsibilities of the Students’ Union Executive Officers.
