Being part of the Union is about having a voice and being heard in a way that could be invaluable in your future and the future of others! The students chosen to represent you will play an important role in making a difference to your time at LAU so make sure you have your say and nominate yourself or speak to others and encourage them to apply!
EQUALITY & DIVERSITY OFFICER

Alongside the Leeds Arts Union Team, the Equality & Diversity Officer will work to celebrate and champion diversity and inclusion within the union and University as a whole. You will ensure that all our events, activities and campaigns are inclusive and accessible to all students and will work to build upon our welcoming, open-minded and inclusive community.

As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the University’s Access and Participation Development Manager and will sit on the newly formed Access and Participation Student Panel. This will offer you an inside perspective on the university’s ongoing and upcoming projects in the world of widening participation and puts you at the epicentre of all equity activity, goals and achievements.

You will also be the sole student representative on the University’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, giving you the ability to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion is considered across all platforms of student life at LAU and at the highest levels; whilst protecting freedom of speech and expression to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all. See section 13 in the Code of Practice for further details on the responsibilities of the Students’ Union Executive Officers.
