Being part of the Union is about having a voice and being heard in a way that could be invaluable in your future and the future of others! The students chosen to represent you will play an important role in making a difference to your time at LAU so make sure you have your say and nominate yourself or speak to others and encourage them to apply!
STUDENTS' UNION PRESIDENT

As Students’ Union President, you’ll lead the Student Executive Officers, boost student engagement, champion student voices and help make the union an inclusive space for everyone. You’ll Chair meetings of the Students’ Union Executive Officer Committee and lead the Annual General Meeting, whilst collaborating with Student Liaison staff and other Executive Officers to plan and promote events, socials and campaigns. Bring your ideas, creativity and passion to enhance student life at Leeds Arts.
You’ll also have the opportunity to join the University’s Board of Governors (subject to an interview and following induction). If you join the Board of Governors, you’ll sit on a committee of senior professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds, giving you a behind-the-scenes view of how the University works and the chance to contribute to how major decisions are made. It’s a brilliant chance to network, boost your confidence, grow valuable professional skills and make a real impact for your peers. You will ensure effective communication between Students’ Union members, senior staff at the University and other stakeholders. You will help to approve the plans and proposed actions of the University and promote active engagement with the Union to all its members.
Currently there are 6 Board of Governors meetings per year which take place on Wednesday afternoons 1.00-3.30pm at Blenheim Walk, plus 2 development meetings. Attendance in person is expected.
